My Story - Results ARE Typical
I have always struggled with my weight. Up and down, up and down. I’ve lost it watching calories, counting carbs, and exercising.....several times. I always gained it back. In 2008, I went through a very stressful situation and gained 25 lbs in one year. I reached my heaviest weight-ever. I felt terrible, I was taking blood pressure medicine, and I was put simply-FAT! I hated it. I hated the way I felt. I thought about it all of the time.
I heard about the HCG diet. I asked my NP about it. She was all for it and told me that she prescribes it herself, all of the time. Most importantly, she said that it’s totally safe, and IT WORKS! I was skeptical, but desperate, so I decided to go for it.
I started during Lent, because I figured it would be a good sacrifice to give up what seemed to me at the time to be eating altogether. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that if I got creative enough, I was eating plenty. I made chili and soup. I ate lots of spinach and grilled chicken. Tomato salads with cucumbers and red onions with basil. I ate asparagus with steak and hamburgers with no bun. I used my apples and strawberries as snacks, and drank plenty of water.
I felt great, and was motivated by my incredible weight loss. 35 lbs in 43 days! Each day was a celebration, and instead of feeling disappointed in myself when I stepped on the scale, I was so proud of myself.
That was more than a year ago. A year and a half ago, actually. I got off of the diet for 6 weeks and went back on and lost another 30 lbs. I am no longer taking my blood pressure medicine. I feel great, and look even better. I like food. I like to eat. But I like feeling good and being thin more. I looked at it this way - you can do ANYTHING for 40 days. And I did, and it wasn’t that bad. It was great. My cravings for carbs are reduced, although I have returned to normal eating. I just watch my carbs and make sure to eat only whole grains and brown rice. I still stay away from potatoes. I just don’t feel well when I eat them. I do have a treat every now and then, go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I look and feel awesome!
Thank you HCG. The main motivator is the scale, and that pound each and every day that I lost! I used to scared of the scale, now I love it.
